NIE Valladolid: from the first form to the card in your hand

On Calle Gerona, the police brigade for foreigners issues NIE numbers, green certificates and TIE cards; permit applications belong to the Oficina de Extranjería on Arzobispo José Delicado. We sort out which applies to you, get your EX form and fee slip right, and keep watch for a cita previa.

The Plaza Mayor of Valladolid seen from under its arcades on a summer evening: the Casa Consistorial, a white-stone and red-brick town hall with a central clock tower and turreted corner pavilions, stands on the left, rows of red-painted arcaded houses close the far side, an ornate iron lamp post rises from the wide red-and-grey paved square where people stroll, and a granite column and hanging lantern of the arcade frame the right edge under a pale blue sky streaked with cloud

General notes

  1. Valladolid draws people from far away: students who come for the university and its Spanish courses, workers hired by firms in and around the city, families joining relatives, and newcomers who simply want a calm, well-connected place to live.
  2. Whichever way you arrive, the paperwork begins with a number. The NIE, and after it the green certificate or the TIE, each comes with its own form, its own fee and its own appointment. We take you through them in order, so you never queue at the wrong counter.

How a file goes up

Four chambers, one level at a time

A lock only opens its upper gate once the water inside has risen. Paperwork works the same way: each step lifts your file to the level where the next one can begin.

  1. Level 1

The first lock: where you stand

Send a short message: the passport you hold, the town where you are settling, and the date that drives everything, be it a first day at work, a signing or the start of term. Our email reply names the procedure that fits and the office it leads to.

  2. Level 2

    The second lock: the papers

Together we complete the EX form and the fee form, note down the proof your situation requires, and hold each document up against the procedure before anything is booked.

  3. Level 3

    The third lock: the date

We watch the booking system for a slot in the province that suits your timetable, then go through the confirmation with you: procedure, street, hour.

  4. Level 4

The fourth lock: the day itself

A short note before you go: which address, what to carry and in what order. After the appointment, the next gate: collecting a card, the padrón, the Social Security number or the notary.

The guides

Three reaches, fourteen mileposts

Your passport decides which reach you start on. Each milepost is one procedure or one local guide, written for Valladolid: the people it serves, its forms and its office, and the paper you leave with.

  1. Reach IThe number, and Europeans
  2. Reach IIVisas, cards and families
  3. Reach IIISettling in for good

Reach I: The number, and Europeans

The NIE, the booking, the fee, and the green certificate that Europeans hold: the first level for nearly everyone.

  • Guide 1

    The NIE and form EX-15

A reference for life from the Policía Nacional. When to request it bare on form EX-15, when it comes inside another paper, and what Calle Gerona handles.

  • Guide 2

    The green EU certificate

European, and here for longer than three months? Form EX-18, the evidence that matches how you live, and the brigade on Calle Gerona that issues the certificate.

  • Guide 3

    Booking a cita previa

How the online booking works for the province of Valladolid: matching the procedure to your form, the office it leads to, and the lines of the confirmation worth a second look.

  • Guide 4

    The 790-012 fee

What the State charges for police procedures (a NIE, a green certificate, a TIE): producing the form, choosing one box, settling it before the appointment.

Reach II: Visas, cards and families

For residents from outside the EU and their relatives: the TIE, student stays, British residents, the EX-19 card, non-lucrative residence and travel during a renewal.

  • Guide 5

    The TIE card

With a non-EU passport and a long-stay visa or permit: the fingerprint appointment on Calle Gerona, form EX-17, and a second visit to pick up the card.

  • Guide 6

    Students and Spanish courses

A degree, an Erasmus year, a Spanish course or a post as a language assistant. Europeans register for the green certificate; other students need a visa before travelling and a TIE after.

  • Guide 7

    British passports since Brexit

Britons resident before the end of 2020 hold a Withdrawal Agreement TIE; old green certificates can be exchanged for it; newcomers start with a visa.

  • Guide 8

    Relative of a European (EX-19)

Your passport is from outside the EU, and the European you live with is your spouse, partner, parent or child? Form EX-19 at the Oficina de Extranjería, then fingerprints at the police.

  • Guide 9

    Non-lucrative visa and TIE

Savings, a pension or rental income, and no job in Spain: the visa from the consulate where you live comes first, the TIE on Calle Gerona after you arrive.

  • Guide 10

A trip while your card is renewed

An expired TIE with a renewal pending, or a card that went missing: the autorización de regreso lets you travel and come back. Both Valladolid offices list it.

Reach III: Settling in for good

A job, a home, the two offices of the city and the padrón: the steps that make Valladolid your address.

  • Guide 11

    Buying a home

Whether it is a city flat or a village house in the province, every buyer needs a NIE before the notary; non-residents use the EX-15, and a power of attorney can sign for you.

  • Guide 12

    Working in Valladolid

A contract in the city or nearby: the permission non-EU workers need first, then the NIE and a Social Security number (número de afiliación) for everyone.

  • Guide 13

Calle Gerona and Arzobispo José Delicado

Extranjería Valladolid, street by street: what the brigade on C/ Gerona lists, what the Oficina de Extranjería decides, phones and hours, Medina del Campo, and the buses the Delegación names.

  • Guide 14

    The padrón in Valladolid

Registering where you live with the Ayuntamiento: the Casa Consistorial office entered from Plaza de la Rinconada, no appointment, the papers it lists, renewals, and help for newcomers.

Extranjería Valladolid

Two offices, one on each bank

In Valladolid the police and the Oficina de Extranjería sit on different streets and do different things. Know which bank your procedure belongs to before you book.

The Canal de Castilla

This site is drawn from the locks of the Canal de Castilla, which ends at the Dársena in Valladolid, because the paperwork works the same way: you rise one level at a time, and each gate opens only when the one below has closed behind you.

The Dársena, the basin where the Canal de Castilla ends in Valladolid: a long whitewashed warehouse banded with red brick under a terracotta tile roof is mirrored in the still water, two old black iron cranes stand on the far quay in front of brick and yellow buildings, a wrought-iron railing and a sluice wheel line the towpath in the foreground, and a scrubby hillside dotted with houses rises behind under a pale sky

Lock 42 of the Canal de Castilla in Valladolid, the last lock before the canal basin, seen from its lower gates: a deep, narrow chamber of grey dressed stone holds green water, closed at the far end by tall grey gates braced with diagonal beams, a thin stream spilling down from the higher level behind them, while steel footbridges with railings and gate winches cross the near end between lawns, an olive tree and a red-brick building under a blue summer sky

Valladolid and around

Extranjería Valladolid: two streets, two kinds of work

The brigade for foreigners on C/ Gerona s/n, 47013 (983 456 553) handles every police procedure: NIE numbers and certificates, Europeans’ registration, TIE cards, return authorisations, non-lucrative residence, students and extensions. At C/ Arzobispo José Delicado 7, 47014 (983 999 222), the Oficina de Extranjería decides permits, the family card of EU citizens’ relatives included, on weekdays from 9:00 to 14:00, by appointment. In the south of the province, the Comisaría de Medina del Campo lists TIE issue as well. policia.es publishes no hours for the police units, so the time on your cita previa is the one that counts.

Finding the two doors

For Arzobispo José Delicado 7, the Delegación del Gobierno names bus stops on Avenida de Miguel Ángel Blanco opposite the Cúpula del Milenio, on Paseo de Isabel la Católica at the corner of 20 de Febrero, and on C/ Joaquín Velasco Martín, with a taxi rank at the corner of Avenida de Miguel Ángel Blanco; the bus company’s own data does not match every line it gives, so check before you travel. For C/ Gerona, no official page we read gives a route: look the address up before the day.

Extranjería Valladolid: both offices, their lists and their buses

The padrón

The padrón is the Ayuntamiento’s, not the police’s: the information office of the Casa Consistorial, entered from the Plaza de la Rinconada, takes registrations from Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 14:30, and on Thursday afternoons from October to May, without an appointment and free of charge; it can also be done online on the sede electrónica. Europeans show their green certificate there, so in the city the certificate comes first. Next door to the Oficina de Extranjería, at Arzobispo José Delicado 8, the town hall’s Centro de Atención al Inmigrante helps newcomers.

Empadronamiento Valladolid: the office, the papers, renewals

Barrios and towns around

From the Centro, Delicias, Parquesol, La Rondilla, Huerta del Rey, Pajarillos, La Victoria and Covaresa to Laguna de Duero, Arroyo de la Encomienda, Simancas, Zaratán, La Cistérniga, Tudela de Duero and Medina del Campo: one province, one booking system, and a padrón at each town hall.

The façade of the church of San Pablo in Valladolid in warm evening light: between two plain stone towers topped by belfries, the Isabelline Gothic frontispiece is carved from the pointed gable down to the deep arched portal with tiers of saints in niches, royal coats of arms, pinnacles, tracery and a rose window, the sculpted portal glowing golden, with a stone wayside cross and a row of stone posts on the square in front under a deep blue sky

Our part of the work

What we take off your hands

  • Your lock, not the whole canal

We start from your passport and your plans, so the list you receive holds your steps and nobody else’s.

  • Two streets, told apart

In Valladolid the police on Calle Gerona and the Oficina de Extranjería on Arzobispo José Delicado do different work. Before you book, we tell you which one your procedure belongs to.

  • Spanish words, explained once and clearly

Forms are completed in Spanish, as the counters expect. We put every Spanish term into English when it first appears, and prepare you for the words you may hear on the day.

  • Plain about our place

This is private help. Decisions belong to the police, to the Delegación del Gobierno and to each ayuntamiento; preparation is ours. Anything we do with you, you could also do alone, paying only the official fees.

Cita previa, forms and fees

Questions asked at the lockside

Cita previa NIE Valladolid: where is it booked, and what does it cost?

Online, on the administration’s cita previa website at sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es, and it costs nothing. Pick Valladolid, then the trámite your form corresponds to, then a slot; the office appears on the confirmation.

Is extranjería in Valladolid on Calle Gerona or on Arzobispo José Delicado?

Both, for different work. The police brigade at C/ Gerona s/n (983 456 553) deals with NIE numbers, Europeans’ registration, TIE cards and the other police procedures. The Oficina de Extranjería at Calle Arzobispo José Delicado 7 (983 999 222, weekdays 9:00–14:00, by appointment) decides authorisations, including the card for EU citizens’ non-European relatives.

What do I take to the huellas TIE appointment in Valladolid?

The EX-17 with your signature, the passport carrying your visa plus a photocopy, one recent colour photo, the 790-012 receipt, a padrón volante, and the resolución if your permit was granted in Spain. policia.es places TIE issue at C/ Gerona s/n, and at the police station in Medina del Campo.

Who needs the certificado de registro UE in Valladolid?

Every national of an EU member state, of Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein, or of Switzerland, who lives in Spain for more than three months. The application goes on form EX-18, with evidence of work, studies, means or family, to the brigade on C/ Gerona s/n.

Where is empadronamiento done in Valladolid?

At the Casa Consistorial, the town hall, entered from the Plaza de la Rinconada: Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 14:30, and Thursday afternoons from October to May. The Ayuntamiento says no appointment is needed, and registering is free. The towns around the city each keep their own padrón.

Do you work for the police or the Delegación del Gobierno?

No. NIE Valladolid is an independent private service. We get your procedure ready with you; the decisions belong to the police and to the Oficina de Extranjería, and you may always deal with them yourself.

Further along the towpath

Two firms for the stretches we do not cover

This site prepares the forms and the appointments of a move to Valladolid. When you need more help, or less travel, two independent firms can take on part of it: AnchorLess for a whole relocation, Gestoraz for a NIE requested from a distance. Both are private companies, as we are, and neither works for the State.
